JOB SUMMARY:

The Associate Executive Director for Development is responsible for planning and implementing a strategic fundraising plan in order to raise vital funds. The Associate Executive Director for Development works with the senior management team in the leadership and management of the agency.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

General Management and Supervision

  • Provides day-to-day leadership and management that reflect the mission and values of the agency.
  • Works with the Deputy Executive Director for Finance to develop the annual fiscal year budget.
  • Works with the Executive Director to develop annual fiscal year fundraising plan to achieve the revenue goal.
  • Assists with developing and implementing plans for the operational infrastructure processes, and personnel allocation designed to enable the agency to meet its goals and objectives.
  • Assists with keeping agency policies and procedures current and maintaining an organization consistent with those policies and procedures.
  • Participates in the hiring, evaluation, termination, and development of staff.
  • Assists with strategic and operational planning, includes measuring fundraising effectiveness.


Resource Development

  • Creates and implements annual development plan and strategy.
  • Leads and manages the agency's overall development efforts to raise an annual budget with yearly increases.
  • Cultivates and grows the donor base, through yearly increases in donor retention and reactivation rates, the number of new individual donors, and increased individual donor revenue.
  • Maintains knowledge about the external environment and how it relates to CACLV and its programs, subsidiaries and strategic direction.
  • Develops and implements a planned giving component to the agency fundraising goals.
  • Provides reports to Executive Director and Board that progress towards achieving annual fiscal year goals.
  • Directs the growth and development content and structure of the agency's websites and social media programs.
  • Designs and delivers direct mail appeals targeting introductory gifts, annual gifts, pledges, recurring gifts, and re-activation gifts.
  • Cultivates and stewards donors through in-person visits, personalized correspondence, special events, and timely acknowledgements.

Public Relations and Community Responsibilities

  • Assists in the coordination of services with other agencies that serve similar constituents.
  • Builds, maintains and nurtures collaborative relationships within the community.
  • Represents the agency at community meetings in addition to or in the absence of the Executive Director.
  • Fulfills public speaking engagements as needed.
  • Serves as spokesperson for the agency in the absence of the Executive Director, Deputy Executive Director, and/or Board President.

Other

  • Plans and manages the Annual Meeting.
  • Database and Records Management - Supervises and manages Donor Perfect Online, Donor Search, and associated fundraising platforms. Collaborate with staff on queries, reports, exports and any other data as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communication, business administration or related field required
  • Master's degree in planning, finance, or management preferred
  • Five to ten years of fundraising, development, and community-based experience required
  • Public speaking experience preferred
  • Knowledge of annual giving, foundation/corporate solicitations, communications and special events
  • Knowledge of marketing strategies and techniques
  • Knowledge of long-range planning processes
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, well disciplined, able to work under pressure of many priorities and meet deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record
  • Personal vehicle or access to independent transportation required
  • Proof of motor vehicle insurance (for use of personal vehicle)
