The Director of Marketing and Communications will report directly to the AED of Development, and work closely with the Executive Director and development team to identify, manage, and execute marketing campaigns, especially digital marketing. The Director of Marketing and Communications will be responsible for assisting across multiple program areas including communications, public relations, event coordination, fund development, and general administrative duties related to all Community Action Lehigh Valley programs and subsidiaries.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Marketing, Communications and Development


  • Develops communications and marketing strategies to broaden programmatic reach and deepen impact in collaboration with the Executive Director and senior management team.
  • Creates marketing strategies for Community Action Lehigh Valley to cultivate and enhance meaningful relationships with targeted, high-level external audiences, including the media, stakeholders and key influencers.
  • Develops a comprehensive marketing plan that includes events, branding, website, media relations, press releases, social media and newsletters and executes plan with the Executive Director.
  • Develops and refines Community Action Lehigh Valley's core messages to ensure organizational consistency.
  • Identifies significant media opportunities and public policy issues that can be leveraged to support Community Action Lehigh Valley's work. Creates and implements a plan to optimize them.
  • Manages Community Action Lehigh Valley's website and social media platforms.
  • Manages the production and distribution of quality ancillary materials that support development and marketing goals; including contracting external graphic designers, photographers and/or videographers.
  • Identifies challenges and emerging issues faced by Community Action Lehigh Valley. Works with senior management and staff to recognize and optimize internal and external communications opportunities and solutions.
  • Ensures consistent image throughout Community Action Lehigh Valley, its programs and subsidiaries.
  • Provides guidance to programs and subsidiaries on marketing and communications.
  • Leads projects as assigned, such as cause-related marketing and special events.
  • Creates and distributes Community Action monthly e-newsletter, collaborates with Development Team and program staff on monthly e-newsletters for other programs and subsidiaries.
  • Recruits and manages interns to strengthen the agency's marketing and communication efforts.
  • Lead efforts of Annual Report; including collaborating with program staff and directors on content and Executive Director on theme and direction, gather appropriate photography, work with development team on mailing lists.
  • Works with Development Team on direct mail appeals and campaigns; oversees timelines, design work and production schedules.

Planning, Management and Evaluation


  • Leads the development and achievement of marketing and communications mission and goals.
  • Ensures that goal-related evaluation systems are in place and progress reported to Executive Director.
  • Develops short- and long-term plans and budgets for the marketing and communications program and its activities, monitors progress, assures adherence and evaluates performance.
  • Develops, implements and monitors systems and procedures necessary for the smooth operation of the marketing and communications function.
  • Stays current on developments in the fields of marketing and communications, non-profit management and governance, and agency-related issues; incorporates this information to help Community Action Lehigh Valley operate with initiative and innovation.



Public Relations and Community Responsibilities


  • Assists in the coordination of services with other agencies that serve similar constituents.
  • Builds, maintains and nurtures collaborative relationships within the community.
  • Represents the agency at community meetings with and/or in the absence of the Executive Director.
  • Fulfills public speaking engagements as needed.
  • Serves as spokesperson for the agency in the absence of the Executive Director, Deputy Executive Director, and/or Board President.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:


Bachelor's degree in related field required

Five years of experience in digital marketing required

Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud or Canva, and Microsoft Office products

Experience creating media of all types, especially digital media and executing marketing initiatives

Experience with website editing preferred (WordPress and WIX a plus)

Experienced creating content and managing social media accounts

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to prioritize multiple functions and tasks and manage work time efficiently

Exceptional customer service focus, including attention to producing quality results

Organized and detail oriented

Prior non-profit or community action experience preferred

Prior experience administering a marketing budget preferred

Prior development/fundraising/stewardship experience preferred

Valid driver's license and good driving record required

Personal vehicle or access to independent transportation required

Proof of motor vehicle insurance (for use of personal vehicle)

PA State Police criminal record check required

Child Abuse History Clearance required

FBI Criminal History background check required
